Hankook Tire & Technology held “Design Innovation Day 2025” at its headquarters Technoplex in Pangyo, Gyeonggi-do on the 11th and unveiled design innovation achievements containing future mobility visions.
Design Innovation Day is a place to strengthen cooperation with global companies by sharing Hankook Tire’s mobility technology vision and design innovation outcomes, while also presenting new mobility solutions that combine innovation, design, and sustainability. This year, in-house executives and employees and officials from partner companies such as LG Electronics, Habistence, and Kalman Tech attended to share the latest technologies and design trends such as 3D printing, robotics, and autonomous driving.
Hankook Tire introduced two achievements: ▲ 3D printing-based ‘Sustainability Concept Tire’ ▲ Next-generation multi-directional driver ‘Wheelbot 2’.
The sustainability concept tire is a model that implements an organic shape using eco-friendly and recycled raw materials and 3D printing technology, and is a product that embodies the company’s ESG vision. It is characterized by the use of Havistance and “NTop” software to implement an organic shape.
Wheelbot 2 is a robotic wheel system that advanced the first-generation model developed in technical cooperation with robotics start-up Kalmantec in 2022 and is equipped with 3-axis spherical tires. Hankook Tire presented the possibility of expanding future mobility services by conducting technology demonstrations in combination with a two-seat Ford “Pass Cruiser.”
In addition, Park In-baek, head of LG Electronics’ Production Technology Institute, had time to share the latest technology trends and insights by holding a presentation session under the theme of “3D printing technology development and importance.”
“We are continuing open innovation with global design universities and companies to expand technology cooperation,” a Hankook Tire official said. “We plan to accelerate technology and design innovation and strengthen global premium brand competitiveness by utilizing cutting-edge R&D infrastructure.”
