Brazos Valley interior designer shares ‘small touches’ to spruce up your home this fall
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The fall season is here, even though the Brazos Valley weather might not reflect that just yet. Inside your home, a College Station interior designer says you can still achieve that crisp fall flow.
Interior designer Nikki Fort, the founder and designer behind Adele Interiors, joined BVTM Monday to share ways to incorporate fall into your home inexpensively.
Fort’s first piece of advice is to evaluate what you already have, because you may be able to incorporate family heirlooms or seasonal pieces into your home.
Afterward, you can shop for small pieces to give your space a seasonal pop.
Fort says big box stores like Target, Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, or Amazon are all great places to find your next statement piece. But you can never go wrong with some of the locally owned home decor and furniture shops like Dirt Road Rustics in College Station, or incorporate a one-of-a-kind find from thrift and antique shops like Bird’s Nest Gifts and Antiques in Bryan.
Fort discusses four areas you can decorate below:
A coffee table is an easy space to add fall character.
Fort, who normally keeps a neutral pallet in her home, added a wooden pumpkin, candle and bowl with a potpourri mix to her coffee table to add a fall touch.
“You don’t have to go crazy or overboard,” she warned.
The sofa is another space that doesn’t require much.
Fort added terracotta and brown textured pillows, and an olive green blanket to her sofa to bring in the season.
A hack that’ll also help you save money is using pillow covers. They can be used throughout different seasons.
Similar to the coffee table, Fort added small touches to her sofa table.
She incorporated a wooden pumpkin, candle and faux burgundy eucalyptus into her vase.
“Small touches,” Fort offered. “Small goes a long way, it really does. You don’t want to overpower all of your sections of your home with fall.”
The dining room is an area where you can go big, according to Fort.
Starting at the center of the table, Fort added faux magnolia blooms into a vase she already had for a pop of color.
She also added place settings with brown and white cloth napkins and pine cones on top.
“You can definitely get creative and innovative with your tablescapes,” added Fort.
