Florence Design School Launches New Interior, Graphic Design Degrees with Goldsmiths, University of London

The Florence Institute of Design International (FIDI), nestled in the historical heart of Florence, Italy, heralds a new era in design education with the launch of two innovative bachelor’s degree programmes in interior design and graphic design for 2024. In collaboration with the prestigious Goldsmiths, University of London, these programmes aim to equip students with a deep understanding of design theory, practical skills, and a keen sense of real-world problem-solving.

Revolutionizing Design Education

Marking a significant shift from its previous collaboration with the University of Chester, FIDI introduces these new programmes to foster a more profound exploration of design materiality and theory. The interior design programme promises an in-depth look into innovative technologies and sustainable practices, including 3D printing and parametric design, offering students hands-on experience in producing lighting and furniture prototypes. Meanwhile, the graphic design programme is set to challenge students to explore visual communication across various mediums, encouraging independent thinking and critical analysis.

Immersive Learning Experience

With an emphasis on small class sizes and substantial contact hours, the programmes ensure a personalized and immersive educational journey. Students will benefit from guest lectures, field trips, and opportunities for professional practice and internships, enriching their learning experience. Open to international candidates, these courses require 112 UCAS points or equivalent, visual arts training, and proficiency in English, with an annual fee of €11,400 (£9,740).

A Global Platform for Aspiring Designers

The FIDI, founded in 2008 and located in a historic palazzo equipped with modern facilities, has welcomed students from over 50 countries, emphasizing its global appeal. By partnering with Goldsmiths, University of London, FIDI not only elevates the standards of its educational offerings but also provides its students with a globally recognized qualification, preparing them for successful careers in the competitive design industry.

As FIDI prepares to welcome its first cohort for these new degree programmes in September 2024, the future of design education looks bright, promising an innovative approach to nurturing the next generation of designers.
