The Live Design International 2023 (LDI) by Questex emerged as a standout success, solidifying its position as the premier event in the live events industry. This global gathering seamlessly brought together the entertainment design and technology communities, offering a host of new and enriched experiences. The 2023 edition featured three compelling keynotes, an exclusive backstage tour of Las Vegas venues, a captivating drone show, the Battle of the Busk competition, and a mesmerizing rainbow tunnel walk leading to the co-located Digital Signage Experience.

LDI 2023 served as a testament to the thriving future of live events, drawing in over 12,000 attendees with an expanded lineup of activities and activations. Notably, the conference achieved significant milestones by bolstering the LDInnovation Conference with a 68% increase in courses and enhancing the LDInstitute offerings by 16%, strengthening its training programs. Registrations for conference and training courses surged by an impressive 23% compared to the previous year, indicating substantial growth in attendee engagement and program participation.

The event showcased groundbreaking innovation, reinforcing its reputation as a hub for cutting-edge technology and professional development. Highlights included three impactful keynotes, comprehensive training sessions led by 205 industry leaders, a focus on work/life balance at the Shining-A-Light Wellness Lounge, exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of prominent venues, a breathtaking drone show, and the intense Battle of the Busk competition.

LDI 2023 took pride in acknowledging outstanding achievements, including the presentation of honors such as the Pat MacKay Diversity in Design Scholarships, the Sustainability Award, and the 33rd edition of the LDI Booth & Best Debuting Product Awards. Further, the Foster the Future Program actively involved 161 students and young professionals, playing a crucial role in promoting diversity and facilitating growth through the provision of scholarships and participation in development programs.

The expo hall buzzed with excitement as 279 exhibitors unveiled cutting-edge technologies, providing live demos and facilitating face-to-face discussions. The event successfully bridged to the Digital Signage Experience (DSE), allowing attendees to walk through a rainbow tunnel and explore shared experiences, visual display solutions, entertainment production technology, and experiential activations and events.

Networking opportunities abounded through various co-located events and the new ConNEXTions Café, facilitating valuable connections and industry discourse. LDI show director Jessi Cybulski expressed gratitude for the collaborative spirit, highlighting the success of the 2023 show and the positive contributions from the LDI community.

Marian Sandberg, VP and market leader for LDI, Live Design, and DSE, termed this year’s LDI as a landmark event. The overwhelming support from exhibitors and attendees indicated a major growth path for LDI in 2024 and beyond. Record numbers of attendees expressing interest in conference and training sessions, coupled with a high level of confidence shown in exhibitor and sponsor support, reinforced the success of LDI 2023 and set the stage for an even more promising future.
