Dear reader, you’re likely already familiar with all the tremendous news, reviews, and LEGO creations we feature here at The Brothers Brick. But producing all this content takes a team of people with a deep passion for the hobby. I was lucky enough to join this wonderful group two years ago, and we’re once again looking to expand our ranks. We’re looking for Contributors to help write up the best darn LEGO creations the internet has to offer. We’re seeking News Writers to help cover breaking information on this hobby that we love. And we’re after Graphic Designers to help create the cover images that draw you all into the news and reviews we have to share. Are you interested in helping us out? Read on for more on the open positions at TBB and how to apply!

Contributor

Those fantastic LEGO creations from adult builders around the globe are the “meat and potatoes” of the content you see featured here. If you know nice parts usage when you see it or just get a kick out of the creations we highlight, then this might be the position for you.

We’re looking for an individual with the following background and skillset:

  • Strong writing skills
  • An ability to contribute three to five articles per week that highlight the builders and their LEGO creations
  • Up to date with both LEGO products and the fan community
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • A team player able to collaborate with other members to share workload and responsibilities across different time zones
  • Willing to learn HTML and the use of WordPress (even better if you’re already familiar!)
  • Willing to learn and pick up new skills to improve the quality of our content.

News Contributor

A large part of the LEGO scene is to be able to keep our global audience updated with the latest breaking news. If you have a good sense of the LEGO community, a knack for discovering sources of information and connecting with individuals, you may just be the person we’re looking for.

We’re looking for an individual with the following background and skillset:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Up to date with both LEGO products and the fan community
  • A team player able to collaborate with other members to share workload and responsibilities across different time zones
  • Willing to learn HTML and the use of WordPress (even better if you’re already familiar!)
  • Willing to learn and pick up new skills to improve the quality of outgoing news
  • Ability to maintain high confidentiality and discretion for embargoed news and other information you may learn through non-disclosure agreements between TBB and its partners, including the world’s largest toy manufacturer.
  • Ability to cover breaking news with website posts, as well as plan out news articles where we have great lead time. This means the weekly time commitment can fluctuate from week to week, but on average amounts to about 3-4 hours per week. More availability could produce even stronger results.

Graphic Designer/Photoshop Guru

We rely heavily on custom graphics when delivering the LEGO news and reviews. If you love creating custom, professional images using Photoshop or equivalent graphic design software, then we can certainly use your help!

We’re looking for an individual with the following background and skillset:

  • Strong digital graphic design skills
  • The ability to assist with website graphics generation, sometimes with less than 24 hours notice
  • Up to date with both LEGO products and the fan community
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • A team player able to collaborate with other members to share workload and responsibilities across different time zones
  • Willing to learn and pick up new skills to improve the quality of our content
  • Existing access to graphic design software required
  • On average, this role requires availability of a couple of hours a week.

TBB team roles are unpaid — The Brothers Brick is run by a bunch of passionate volunteers who write about LEGO in their spare time. All money the site earns through the support of our loyal readers goes toward server and bandwidth costs, purchasing products to review, ensuring timely news coverage of important events, sponsoring contests and fan events like BrickCon and Japan Brickfest, and helping out the LEGO fan community wherever we can.

Even though all roles are volunteer positions, being a TBB Contributor provides a genuine opportunity to participate in one of the top hobby sites in the world. If you don’t have prior web writing experience, you’ll have the opportunity to learn or improve on tangible professional skills such as writing for the web, headline writing, search engine optimization, editing, and graphic design. More than one TBB “alumni” has successfully referenced experience earned through contributing as a team member during professional job interviews with well-known international companies.

To apply for any of the roles, please use our standard contributor application form and indicate which role you’re interested in.
